How I Quit Teaching

I quit teaching in 2018.

In the years leading up to this, I felt so frustrated that I couldn’t find any advice that supported this decision. I found it so hard to find advice about how my decade as a teacher translated into other careers. I didn’t know who I should talk to, or even if the reality of changing career was possible. I had reached the point where I was at Leadership salary and the thought of moving to a brand new industry made my bank balance shudder. I was desperately looking at entry-level jobs, and just wanted out. I felt trapped by teacher resignation dates. I needed support in leaving teaching and couldn’t find it anywhere.

I have quit teaching now, I made it out. It wasn’t easy and isn’t without it’s stresses but it was the best decision I have made for my wellbeing and my family. My finances haven’t suffered because I stopped being desperate and started being strategic. I am going to help you do the same.

I hope this website becomes a support network for others that want to quit teaching but are struggling to find the advice they require to decide if they want to follow through on the idea. It’s not hard, but it is scary when you try and figure out the consequences of this decision. If you need guidance on how to quit teaching, whilst staying sane – you have come to the right place.
