Two-Thirds of teachers want to quit over pay!

The TES today reported on a National Education Union survey that points to some worrying news; 63% of teachers have considered leaving the profession due to their poor pay. The NEU surveyed more than 25,000 members over pay and conditions and delivered the news that will be challenging for the DfE to swallow. In a teacher retention crisis, we need to address the reasons teachers quit and pay is a huge issue for many in the profession.

The survey also confirmed that 58% of teachers believe they are underpaid in comparison to other graduate professions; when you look at the calculated hourly pay for teachers, it is easy to see why!
